Fit Tip Tuesday! Liar, liar pants on fire - HealthyLife - Exercise ...

Do you find yourself telling little white lies or maybe even big fat ones on a regular basis?

Shame on your first off. (Just kidding). Honesty, is the best policy, not only for your relationships but for your health. Now, there is research to prove it!

A study from Notre Dame, of participants who told fewer lies over a 10-week period, were found to have fewer mental-health complaints, fewer physical complaints and improved personal relationships.

The truth shall set you free and keep you in shape, who knew.

However, we all know that sometimes TMI is not a good thing. So don?t fret. The study did find that distraction can go along way in making you feel better and not having to tell a full out lie.

Symptoms you may feel after lying that aren?t so hot:

  • tension
  • headache
  • sad
  • depression
  • anger
  • sore throat

How to admit to the lie without making things worse:

  • meet the person for a conversation at a neutral, open location like a coffee shop or restaurant. The gym, home alone or in a car are not the best place to admit wrong doing or apologize.
  • get comfortable and try not to create an uncomfortable situation
  • be sincere, look at the person when apologizing and tell the truth
  • face to face is best, but a letter could help get you that face to face meeting
